The client approached us to demolish an existing agricultural barn and replace it with a pair of modern semi-detached properties on the site of an existing residential dwelling. The design involved rotating the original barn footprint to afford more privacy between the new and existing premises and to ensure unobstructed views from the existing home on the same site. Louvres were added to the front facade of the new build units to provide privacy and to shield the interior of the properties from the sun. Glazing and balcony design elements to the rear of the semi-detached homes capture amazing views out towards the fields, while the use of concealed gutters and corrugated metal cladding create a sleek, modern barn style. The inclusion of sustainable elements such as integrated underfloor heating and an air source heat pump make this renovation a forward thinking endeavour that is equipped to work efficiently and sustainably for years to come.
